Skanard Ref Sheet
A sudden commission from
goldblaze for their friend Darrkone999. This is a ref sheet of
Slifureyes 's feathered dragon character, Skanard. This was a huge learning experience - you don't see dragons with extensive body feathers most of the time, and I had to do some research to attempt to not make them look like hair or scales - they're a curious mix of both, hehe! XD I'm also getting a better hang on gold coloration and how tricky it can be. Thanks, Goldblaze!
Also, this commission would not be worth what I appraised it for ($50 with the two poses) if I knew how obsessed I'm become with it, ha! This whole thing would be more worth around the $100 range, maybe even $120. Lesson learned: I obsess over detail! XP
Photoshop CS5, maybe about 18-20 hours

*laughs* The point isn't to top other artists, it's to collect. I love collecting art. And it's also awesome to see how an artist has improved. Somewhere around here I have art that you did for me way back 7 years ago, and it would be awesome to see how much you've improved since then. I have a piece like that that Rah-Bop did...the original piece she did for me didn't even have real feet, but I love it just as much as the one she did for my wedding. I just love collecting art, lol.
I suppose that is one thing that still eludes me - I never really felt a huge need to collect art voluntarily. I collect things that are given to me, surely, but I don't search art to add to a folder or to a general art collection. Maybe it's because I already have too much paper around, eheh! XP I do sort of collect art in my DA favorites, with all of my different folders for things, but I never really physically collected art after I turned about 15 or so. It's curious! It may be along the same lines as my lack of interest in commissioning others for images of my draconic self, but yeah.
Thank you for explaining it to me ^^ I really appreciate it! <3 I have to admit seeing the progress made from one image to another is awfully insightful and entertaining, though :D
Take care!
