During my recent Yosemite trip, I went out for some milky way shots. I'm guessing the moon was too bright because I could not get the milky way to show up in my shots. I did, however, get to see the headlamps from a bunch of climbers while I was attempting to capture the galaxy. I changed my focus, and my location. This shot is a result. I wish I had done a longer exposure for more star streaking, but I REALLY had to go to the bathroom by this point, so I had to keep it short, lol.
I shot a few other climbers that night, some moved, others went to bed shortly after trying to shoot them. This person stayed put and stayed awake late...and had an AMAZING location next to the Upper Yosemite Falls (which I had hiked to the top of only a couple days prior). I love heights, but I'm not sure I'd have the testicular fortitude to hang a few thousand feet in a hammock and sleep (especially with a crazy tight crotch harness on the entire night). That would definitely freak me out XD
Anyway, enjoy the shot!

Hmmm... I thought the lost arrow was climbed on the other side. I guess it must be a good ledge there. It's not a popular climb, it's super old school, and I didn't know it was common to bivy on it. Weiiiird. The popular thing is to rap down from the top and do a Tyrolean traverse up there.
This shot is pretty darn cool. You have an awesome moon shadow cutting out the arrow, cool colors and definition. I'd want to make a me too photo like that :P
Besides the stuck pixels, fix the top right edge above the fall.
Brilliant.

After doing some google searches to learn what the hell you're talking about, I don't think that's the arrow XD The shape doesn't match.
Where you talking on the right above the falls? I see some really minor things, but I wanna make sure we're talking about the same thing/s XD

The lost arrow spire is on the right of your pic, sticking out of the wall. It connects about 300ft below its top to the main wall, where the shadow meets it. Trust me I know what I'm talking about and it's not eroded ;) You may have seen pics seen from the top.
What's unusual is having people going up that climb from the bottom. They are half way in your pic...

Seems I wasn't the only one with this idea...or to decide to hike that arrow on that side http://www.flickr.com/photos/liquid.....om/4617508888/
Thanks ^^ Actually, I'm trying to save my favorite/best stuff for last. Unless I can master this luminance mask stuff though, I'm either going to have to settle for standard HDR manipulations (as with my canopy shot), or I'm going to have to postpone those shots and go right to the stuff I like more =X
Tripod, intervalometer, Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8, manual focus, or do you mean the post processing in photoshop? My post processing work has gotten pretty long and complicated since I used to put explanations in every shot. I can tell ya, but if that's not what you're asking about, I wont worry about that part XD
That's really neat how you can see the different colors of the stars. And what a fantastic shot overall.
And you couldn't pee while it was exposing? How does your shutter release work? A lot of cable releases I've seen have a lock on them so you don't have to stand there holding the button.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I'm not gonna get a pan/tilt head like that, but I would like a radio shutter release that I can trigger from a good ways. Partly for mountain biking self shots as I could mount the remote trigger on my handlebars. Still I won't be getting one of those for a bit as I have other priorities.
