I'm not against organic foods, I think it's great. It's just that the word "organic" brings odd imagery to mind any time I hear it.
I think this was about 30 minutes in SAI.

I majored in chemistry and when I hear "organic" I think "carbon compounds".
But all food is made from carbon (except for a few mineral-based things like salt), so when I hear "organic food" I try to imagine what the alternative to this is, and can't come up with anything. An inorganic apple is made out of steel or glass or something I guess.
All food is organic. It's a dumb term.
That being said, whatever you want to call it, it's generally a good idea to eat it.

Well, organic is the adjective form of organism, which is a living thing, explaining the term.
Even so, you're right that the vast majority of food comes from some once-living thing. Organic foods, however, are wholly organic, i.e. not treated with synthetic pesticides and stuff.
oh god that apple is scary ;_;

There are more inorganic material in the food besides synthetic pesticide thats supposedly not put into the organic food.
For example water is inorganic and fruits are mostly water. So calling them organic because a tiny bit of inorganic pesticide isn't in them while they are 90% inorganic water is kinda silly.

Lol water is a horrible, horrible example... Just because H2O compounds aren't living organisms doesn't mean that nothing that contains them should be classified as "organic."
To call an item organic denotes how it was produced, not that 100% of its contents were once living at a subcellular level... which isn't even possible

I don't have a problem with organic fruit. My problem is with organic water. And not so much that, but my food store sells 7 different brands of organic bottled water. And that doesn't bother me nearly as much as the fact that one of these brands of bottled organic water is Atkins approved.
