This was for 
que-sera-sera's "Design Your Dream Costume" contest. We could design anything we wanted as long as it's wearable and physically possible, with the emphasis being on creativity and originality. The grand prize? Having your costume design made. For free. I didn't win, but at least this contest motivated me to design an original outfit for Clopan. Previously I had just pictured him dressing like the Disney version of Clopin, but that wasn't going to cut it for this contest.
I took visual cues from the Disney version's "casual" outfit but played up the "vagabond king" aspect of the character by also drawing inspiration from other cinematic versions of Clopin and throwing in details that just "looked right" until I wound up with this. It probably won't win any awards for historical accuracy, but hopefully it conveys what I wanted: He's a scraggly scamp, albeit a scraggly scamp who carries himself in a regal way, and you probably shouldn't mess with him.
