This is Nugget, my pet Brachypelma auratum :) After I've got Sanchez, I've got the spider bug. I just can't get enough of spiders! :D
His/her bald Opisthosoma is not my fault, he looked like this when I bought him. I've bought him with the terrarium he was in, so he had no stress when moving into my appartment :3
In contrast to Sanchez, Nugget is a real scaredy-cat. He's even running away from his prey XD I'll try next week if je wants to eat a cockroack instead of a cricket. Maybe just crickets freak him out.

Good to see you have spent time reading up on these guys, always good to be armed with information. That said, Brachypelma are bomb-proof, so you wont go wrong :)
It's really fun to watch a spider moult, there's a lot of behaviour that tells you they're about to so unless you have a burrower or an arboreal that just makes a tube and hides in it, you probably wont miss it.

Curious of how far can spiders can flick their hair when scared?
Its very rare I find any type of tarantula in a house hold over here because they don't populate here, they know they take a while to get used to their home.
Also adults molt hair once every year.
I really do love giant spiders even touching them aslong as they are mature and not scared of humans.
Btw does anyone know how often Brachypelma's tend to flick hairs? even if they first frightend do they give some kind of warning before they flick their hairs at you.

Nugget didn't make any attempt to flick hairs at me, he was just running away when I tried to feed him crickets and he even showed no aggressive behaviour when I cought him in a box to plant plants in the terrarium.
Sanchez instead does this more often - as Sanchez was new in my home, he did it without warning, but now he calmed down and just does it when I tease him, and sometimes he only feints. :3

what does it feel like when it actualy hits the skin.
people complain about things being to painful or irritateing but when it comes to my turn I don't feel any pain from some injuries so like I asked.
How does it feel to get hairs flicked directly at your skin or clothes?
common sense you watch the eyes and keep your mouth shut oh yeah don't forget the nose but its not so likely lol

My nose and eyes were itching when I've put the plastic box in which Sanchez was transported into the trash can, because there had to be invisible hairs left in this box. I was sneezing a bit and my eyes were reddened, but it wasn't that bad.
He never hit me directly with an attack, though. :3
