Haha, I don't blame you! The games are something I can take or leave these days, but the background art of the original Sonic games were actually my seminal inspiration for becoming an artist- I remember the first thing I ever drew was a map of Emerald Hill, which was just one long green line with dips and loops with floating yellow circles. The games hardwired my tender child brain for everything I'd ever love, even my favorite music sounds like Sonic music.

I wish I could take credit for the palette but I'm not that smart yet, I just sampled them from the source. I've never seen a more delicate balance of otherwise putrid colors anywhere.
