Some more pics of my Vivi...gah this is taking forever!!!! But now there's a staff to finish as well. It's gonna be a flame staff. The glow is achieved by using to balls that glow when they bounce...they were $2.99 for two of them at Walgreens.
Still to do:
hem pants, make black shirt for chest and to hold up pants, stiffen the hat brim, finish sewing all that red cording on the coat from, finish making the eyes and attach them, make other jacket cuff, attach both jacket cuffs, make shoes, make belt and belt buckle, make gloves, cover the staff....and probably some more stuff I can't remember

the thing about cosplay is you don't always "think" of how to do things...my best technique is just walking up and down isles of stores just thinking...it drives the staff nuts! They're always like, "you need help? what are you looking for..." and I'm like...."nothing" or "i'll know it when I see it" Once you break the idea of what you're looking for down it can be pretty darn easy actually...If I said...Warzol...I need glowing red eyes that turn off and on when I want...they need to be red, fairly smallish and not fragile would you know what to look for? But if I turned around and said...red, round, palm sized with lights? You may have come up with the ball idea too...I found these in Walgreens walking thru the toy section...I didn't know what I was looking for and when I found the balls I was thrilled...super cheap AND they glow when I knock em?! SOLD! Cosplaying doesn't have to be expensive...tho there are some costumes out there that you need a cool grand to make happen but I found that ingenuity paid off more in ease of use and authenticity of my cosplays then trying to manufacture everything by hand...like those "grommets" on the front of the coat that the red lacing goes thru? Those are used when you make your own curtains....You just cut holes into your fabric of choice, add the front and back of these plastic doughnut shaped thingies around the hole and snap them together. They were a bit pricey at $10 for 10 but I had a coupon and as creative as I can be sometimes I wouldn't have found a solution that would have been as clean as just buying these parts
tl:dr
most of the time it's easier to figure out HOW you can use something than it is to think HOW can I make that something
