*ATTENTION: I am not a supporter of Nazism. I am not a Fascist. I do not like Swastikas. This guy is MEANT to be an asshole in the first place!*
Based upon a character in
Dark-Wolf_Legionnaire's new, public story cyclus. He invited to bring in own characters in the cast of a - pretty damn awesome - WW II story. I could not resist and was happy to stuff my alter ego, the Chevalier, succsesfully in a Nazi uniform.
Being the Breton Seigneur de Montbert, the wolfdog joined Nazi Force shortly after the Occupation of France in 1941 to use the unique opportunity of a new totalitarian potenate to regain property and position being lost in the revolution of 1789. That is, well, what the Higher SS- and Policeleader told him. Because both of his eduacation and the knowledge in local traditions and areal, he is a dangerous enemy for the Allies.
During the peak of Nazi power, he was head of an antipartisan unit, with murderous succsess, with de Seigneur despising both socialists and "saboteurs" for being not chivalric.
He joined the French SS - Division Charlemagne, which was mostly used as a terror unit later on when fortuna started to change sides. Surely enough Montbert is a god Nazi in many aspects of the ideology, but mostly he is a convinced royalist, which makes a dangerous cocktail of prejustices, pride and hollow dignity.
In
Dark-Wolf_Legionnaire's story, he is commander of a tank under Captain Taylon Ritter; I guess his original unit was dispersed already.
Decorations are the Jerusalem Crossof the Order of the Holy Sepulchre and the badge of the Order of the Holy Spirit, the Close-Combat Brooch in gold (he is a master in swordmanship and rather Medieval fighting skills), the Anti Partisan Badge in silver, the Croix de Guerre of the Vichy - Regime and the Legitimist decoration some members of the Bourbon royalist fraction weared to show their ethos.

This is quite awesome - that's something outright from the start, in my opinion. When I read Legion's story I found Montbert to be particularly fascinating due to his, I wouldn't say "complex", but interesting and unique history. He's of the Vichy - you don't see a lot of that! He's making for a well liked and disliked villain as these chapters go by, and I quite wonder what might happen if Jasper and Montbert come into some sort of contact in chapter four.
As for the piece itself, it's a shame you only did a sketch. He's rather cool looking, and I like the addition of the medals on the side. Anti-partisan, you bastard! :shakefist:!
- and on a last note. For these people hassling you for this piece? Oh please. It's a picture of the character in an alternate universe, playing a villain, who just happens to be a Vichy Nazi. It would be like getting angry at Christoph Waltz for playing Hans Landa, a Nazi, in Inglorious Bastards.
Looking forward to if you decide to do more of Montbert. Kudos!

Told you I dislike partisans. Its so peasant.
If they might make contact, it would be a clash of worlds. Totally different ways of thinking... If you have some minutes, listen to this, it explains his style and habit quite well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_jX.....feature=relmfu
P.S. Thanks for the kind words

This is extraordinarily beautiful - I'm listening to it as I write this, and I have to admit, I'm going to be listening to this many times over. Thanks for showing me it!
I don't speak French, unfortunately, and only have a moderate understanding of the tongue from my experience with it in high school. I took a class in Junior year, and such. Musically, on its own merit, it's awesome. Tried and failed to find an English translation.
In a similar sense, I think this matches Jasper's style a bit. It's not right on, but it'd make a marvelous theme for "Les Partisans,". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be60.....eature=related

Lyrics and translation (it is rather old fhasioned French)
1. Le roi a fait battre tambour
Pour voir toutes ses dames
Et la première qu'il a vue
Lui a ravi son âme
2. Marquis dis-moi la connais-tu
Qui est cette jolie dame ?
Le marquis lui a répondu
Sire roi, c'est ma femme
3. Marquis, tu es plus heureux que moi
D'avoir femme si belle
Si tu voulais me la donner
Je me chargerais d'elle
4. Sire, si vous n'étiez le roi
J'en tirerais vengeance
Mais puisque vous êtes le roi
A votre obéissance.
5. Marquis ne te fâche donc pas
T'auras ta récompense
Je te ferai dans mes armées
Beau maréchal de France
6. Adieu, ma mie, adieu, mon cur !
Adieu mon espérance
Puisqu'il nous faut servir le roi
Séparons-nous d'ensemble
7. La reine a fait faire un bouquet
De belles fleurs de lys
Et la senteur de ce bouquet
A fait mourir marquise
1. The king was playing the drum
To see all the ladies [of his court].
And the first one he saw
moved his heart.
2. Marquis, tell me
who is this beautiful lady?
The Marquis replied:
Sire, she is my wife.
3. Marquis, you are happier then me
Having such a fine wife
If you allow me,
I’d take care of her.
4. Sire, if you were not king,
I would seek vengeance!
But as you are king,
I am in your obedience.
5. Marquis, do not be angry
I will give you reward
making you the Chief-Marechall of my troops.
6. Farewell my dear, farewell, my heart!
As we all have to serve the king
We must separate now.
7. The queen herself arranged a bouqet
of wonderful fleur de lys
and the scent of these flowers
killed the Marquise.
