Why not both? Modernize - use a laptop to keep track of supplies at home, and while traveling and usage statistics, record how often baby gets sick, needs a change and needs fed. Set reminders when baby needs any kind of medicine! Million and one uses for a laptop along with your diaper bag. Although of course these days one's phone can do all this too >_>;

I often do bring both in my travel bag, the padding actually cushions my laptop when traveling to protect from falls or mishandling by various airport and border security folks.

If I brought a laptop, it would just be for FA and Minesweeper
