Contra was so awesome. The reason the Spread gun powerup was the best thing ever was because Contra was a one-hit kill game, and a gun that could spread bullets all over the screen in a game where you were so vulnerable made you feel like you stood a chance against impossible odds.

Hands down the best weapon in that game!
I mean, even WITH it....do you know ANYONE who could beat that game without the 30-Lives Konami code? I'm convinced it's fucking impossible. I spent many hours of my childhood attempting it. Even now, if I could pull that off, I'd feel like my dick was 10-feet long, cuz that's some seriously braggable shit!
