Well here is the reason why I've been absent for so long. On August 20th my little buddy Cosmo passed away suddenly. Of course I really was not in the mood to paint but about a week later I got this composition in my head and began working on it.
When things began to feel better I then got news my Grandfather had passed away (when it rains it pours as they say). So this got put on hold. I was away spending time with my family which was very healing. When I got home, for the first time in a while I was able to stay focused on my art for more than 30 minutes. So many hours and a several tears later my tribute to my little friend is done.
I put him with his favourite treat, the nectarine. He was a fiend when it came to this fruit and would insist he have the piece I was eating instead of the one I gave him. He was a little clown and had the strangest chirp that sounded like a cat mewing (even though I don't own cats). Most of all he loved a particular blue bell that he snuggled like a teddy bear. He followed me wherever I went and would watch TV on my knee. And like all good little birds enjoyed nibbling the pencil or tablet pen even if it was in use.
You were a wonderful friend and will be missed, Cosmo.

Aaww poor sweetie felt the same 15 years ago when lost my first tame budgie ecco,
still have his memory in my heart. Now I have Sherbert whom is a darling cheeky lad.
Cosmo is a lovely name for a blue budgie, hope you have another some day no pet can be replace but
I am sure they would not want you to be sad.

Someday I'll get a birdy again :3 I love their singing and personalities too much not to. I have adopted a dog though and we just celebrated our 2 year anniversary! Pets are such sweet things. It's so sad to say good-bye but I would never trade the joy that they bring while they're with me for anything in the world <3
What a lovely painting. Budgies are so hard to capture.
I too lost my dear Mikko last year and he was my soulmate. It's destroying when they leave you.
I think i have a painting of him in my gallery, somewhere, nowhere near the level of yours though!
RIP little fellow, you're mostly likely fluttering about up in birdy heaven, squabbling with the others over the best swings and nibbling millet and fruity treats. I imagine it's quite crunchy underfoot up there with all the seed husks on the floor. :)
