Urgh, I thought that rule applied to pictures that are *just* a screenshot, to prevent a ton of space being taken up with them, and copyright issues.
What if a submission has original work and a screenshot taking up maybe a third of the image, if that much, as part of comic or storyboard?

i know this is a really late reply, and i really don't know why i'm reading thru the comments on this BUT:
i once knew a homeless guy that had a really fancy touch screen smart phone thing. he played games on it and everything. Whenever i asked him how it was possible that he had that he would just tell me it was a scam, never explained how.

i wondered this myself.. I dont really see the point as to posting a comment like that if you're not gonna buy anything at all. :E then again I'd mostly pay attention to notes if I see buyers coming. THEN AGAIN IF I GOT A NOTE WITH SOMEONE SAYING, "ooh man ooh damn I really want a art but bro..man..no money man ..BUT I REALLY WANT THE ART. ffffffff..oh well..maybe next time?"

realy!? what the fuck is wrong with you? the internet and a computer is petty essential to life today, that how people pay bills and keep in contact with their family and friends. and if you think computers are expensive or can be sold for alot of money then you don't know much about used electronics.
um...no I didn't, you know where I got all of my computers? I didn't buy them, I pulled a bunch of broken computers out of the dumpsters behind my school, took them all apart and used the good parts to make working computers, the ones I didn't need, I gave away to my family and friends. anybody else could do the same, you don't have any concept of what its like to be poor and not have any money for things that you want, you only have money for things you need to survive.
Well that IS true! I had no idea what its like to be a commoner.
My fathers lucrative businesses have blessed me with almost $100 in saving so I guess I am a bit out of touch with people who don't even have 25 cents to their name.
To starts my transformation in to a better person, I have talked with my butler who I use to pay almost $3 a week. ( WHICH I THOUGHT WAS VARY FAIR! this just proves how far I am form the pulse of the community) and am now paying him almost $4.10!
You should have seen the look on his face! He related the event to something called Christmas? ( I am told this is almost like our rich person holiday where we just eat diamonds all day, I would try and spell it for you but just to pronounce its name you would need a special tongue surgery. Which of course is VARY expensive and needed for high class communication )

Lol good one dude obviously an "intellectual" such as Jango fails to know when a picture depicts satire and/or irony. Jango always had to pick a fight with someone...in fact he even made a whole journal complaining about this picture and every persons counter argument towards him "invalid" XD he hopes you see it as well redic, so much drama in that journal over a cute and funny picture >.> BUT that's jango for ya everyone!
It's not really about 25 cents though, is it? I've yet to see anybody offering good artwork commissions for that amount. The price is usually something like 25$.
Perhaps the "im too broke" type of comment is just a gentle way of saying your art isn't even worth that much.

There is a reason people don't offer good artwork for 25c.
The too broke comment might be a gentle way of saying that, but I've seen it utilised in more of a "feel sorry for me/I don't actually want to pay for art anyway, and reduce your prices". If someone else is willing to pay it, the the quality is probably not the problem. There is so much underselling online it makes me sad that not enough artists value their own skill, and that so many feel entitled to large, polished pieces of work for under 25 dollars.

In this case the comment is an invitation for haggling over the price. If the artist does not wish to participate then they should not respond to it. It's true that there is plenty of underselling, though that has more to do with the artist's low self-esteem.

I think a lot of people comment they can't afford art because they see someone posted something and want to respond to acknowledge the post. Some watchers on FA comment on every journal and submission an artist would post and if it's about commissions open and they can't afford it or really don't want a commission, they politely decline by saying "Man, I wish I had the money I'd grab a spot!" or more commonly "I'm sure these are going to sell out fast! I love your work" -- these responses are okay to me.
Additionally, I think there are still some dumbasses out there who respond to those things trying to solicit pity from the artist to get them to give them free art. I used to get those because I had a fanbase of 14-15 year olds with my work. Other than that I haven't really gotten anything like this in a long time. The silliest though was someone choosing to lecture me in my commission journal because he didn't morally agree with me making a fundraiser to get my cat fixed.

All too often the genuinely poor people seem to be more humble, and don't see to get the things they need. While others who choose to be poor make the systems work for them so they don't have to do as much. Those who don't try to better themselves seem to be the complainers all too often. :/
I'm poor, and I like this comic. However, I'm willing to cut off things that drain money (like, only eating really cheep food, and not draining power in my house with various things) just to have more money for personal things like commissions or snacks. x3

Hehe. If it's a picture over $20 I can see them saying something like that. I can get a week worth of food for $20 and food is more important. XD But yeah. I hate how you charge like $1 for a picture and people are Bawhing cause it's so expensive.

yeaahhh when i notice people i like are doing cheap commishes i tend to get one even without actually having any idea of what to get hahaha. I just know usually its done as a means to fund something (Trivial or vital) and i would like the artists i think make cute/fun images to not VANISH AND LEAVE A MILLION GREY BOXES IN MY PROFILE. Fortunately I tend to like PG art and its mostly adult artists that ragequit.

Priorities. They are a good thing. Like having a working car, having rent paid on time, working plumbing, tuition, ect.
Then again...I'll admit to wanting to buy artwork when I'm piss broke and gasp and egads, when I'm piss broke I can't afford it and thus *pause for dramatic effect* I Don't get any! Doesn't mean I'd not like to, it means I can't and it gets shuffled way down on the priorities list.
Could bring up a few extreme cases of priorities being out of whack where it's more akin to a gambling addiction and why this amuses me to no end but I digress.
