This fellow was concept art for the otters in the game Inherit the Earth 2.

I drew him (and a few others) a while ago. Someday soon I'll be able to post the rest. >:]
I remember playing the first Inherit the Earth back when I was a pup. It's awesome to get the chance to work on the sequel. :]

Well, I can't say what the sequel is about--but the original was a point-and-click adventure game set in a furry universe--

Two things
1) awesome otter :) Then again, all of your stuff is awesome. I really like the clothing, how its all loose and flowy, like you imagine they just want to be swimming again. Or thats just me
2) I think you gave inherit th earth 2 a lot populairty and word of mouthadvertising with one picture than any else will :)
My friend will e so happy he'lll squee his pants.
Twice!

Ooooooooooh... You've just made me a very happy otter!
I bought Inherit the Earth when it first came out. I played it for a while and rather enjoyed it, but I'd have an unplacable feeling of longing while playing and so eventually returned it. A year or so later, I found 'furry', and grew both an understanding of why I found the game so oddly appealing and the desire to play it again. It took me a good decade to find another copy, though.
I think that I'll finally finish it next weekend. By now the Roland MT-32 that I acquired for retrogaming should have less of a stench of cigarettes, it's been stewing in baking soda for a couple of weeks. I'll bet that Inherit the Earth will sound great on it.
A couple of questions, if I may. Will Inherit the Earth 2 be a 2D game, like it's predecessor, or 3D? Will it be a sequel to the first?
I'd love a modern take on the classical 2D adventure game. I'm one of those bitter old gamers who feels that VGA was the pinnacle of PC gaming graphics. ^^; Gratuitous 3D has killed so many potentially good games..

Come to think of it, earlier today I was debating what it would take to write a classic adventure game engine. It'd be nice to have something that's easy to use (encourage folks more artistically creative than I to write their own games), and that uses modern hardware (higher-res graphics, scriptable music..).
Maybe some day I'll implement such an engine. It would be easier than the Master of Magic-like game that I've been contemplating writing for the last decade.
I really should go back and read up on PyGame, or possibly the C version of SDL and either Lua or Guile.

Looks like you've never played realMYST (released 2000ish). This is a case where 3D, done right produced absolutely stunning results, even by today's standards, without sacrificing any of the appeal of the original. Here's a link to the demo: http://www.cyan.com/products/realmyst.php

Wow blotch.. you get to work on real concept art afor a real game... that's one level over what the lot of us can..
Guess it gives me something more to work towards..
Awesome stuff. I just hope he has some strength in his tail.. would fall back otherwise, but as it's 'just' concept art..

FINALLY....! THANK GOD! I have been waiting for the sequel to come for years now. I own the original game and have beaten it many times. I will definitely be ready to buy a copy when it is finished... Of course, my company has plans to do its own furry multi-verse game saga in the future. But I am eagerly awaiting this sequel. I was and still am a big fan of the original game.
Hey Blotch is there something new about ITE2? the last thing i know is that the Kickstarter campaign was cancelled, do you still work on it in some way? I really hope it will come out some day the german version of the original was very good and i will remember the game forever :)
Thats pretty sad, the last thing i saw was the Kickstarter Project, which was cancelledbecause...well see for yourself: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....it-the-earth-2
what i heard is that they redo the game now, working on it for Kickstarter to really show something, i hope so much it will work, dont know how far they are at the moment i think they planning to get the first game on GOG.com.
