That is correct. They banned it a good few years ago now...though there's rumours of talk of bringing it back...but the majoroty of the british public is opposed to that idea as far as I can tell.

Not sure what to make of it was watching something the other day where it talked about it.. I gather they still have 'fox' hunts but there isn't a fox involved in fact if a fox gets involved they could be arrested for harassing the fox

Yeah they arrange fake fox hunts with a "dummy" fox if you will...some inanimate object they make smell like a fox and then drag around a wood as the dogs chase it. It's a pretty fair compromise...though the ban is rather tough to police...especially with our severely dwindled police forces being pretty stretched with work as it is with more serious crimes.

Ya such a ban would be almost impossible to enforce here in the US for similar reasons. Odds are they'd get more people because someone reported it rather than trying to patrol

I've seen countless BBQ restaurants that feature mascots of happy, smiling pigs carrying platters of hot dogs and baby back ribs. One place even called itself "Hog Heaven," and the cartoony pigs wore wings and halos -- and chef hats!

And then there's the mascot for Arctic Circle -- a friendly, waving chicken who seems to be saying, "Come and eat me and all of my friends!"

I think I've seen a few of those gnomes around myself...It's kinda hard to know what to make of them...is it hypocracy? is it irony? is it some kinda reverse phsychology? It certainly is odd...who came up with this silly idea?

Oddly, a Canadian friend had sent me several "Fox-Huntsman" figures similar to the one you describe over the years. My favorite though is a tiny, two and a half inch tall, cast resin figure of a Fox-Huntsman with the rifle by his side and a spotted deer fawn nestled up beside him. The Fox looks like he's patting the fawn's head affectionately too. The reason I like the figure above the others is because he's wearing green instead of red, and I get the impression he'd be more "Conservative" in protecting the hunting grounds and supporting the game's environment.
