Kirei and Vena have been lifemates for several years. This is a common sight for those who might stumble upon their den. Kirei probably won't go to sleep sometime after Vena goes to sleep. Kirei would never let Vena go even in sleep, and sedatives would only awaken and enrage Kirei due to her past. The two of them feel a need to be together like this. It is their time to sit and enjoy the presence of the other.
