Oh, I meant in da verse ;) I know that the first ever appearance, in TOS, they simply had no technology to make a better suit. 'Fixed' in enterprise (which is non canon anyway), but then again in STO they use plantigrade, instead of digitigrade. So yeah I meant the game mostly ;)
