"Look at them Taka, aren't they beautiful?" Mufasa said with awe as he stared up at the night sky.

The smaller cub looked up slowly with disinterest. "The stars? What's so special about them."

Mufasa kept smiling as he gazed up, "Dad told me all the Great Kings of the past are up there, watching over us." he paused, "He told me that someday, he'll be up there too...and one day, so will I."

Taka stared at the stars as his brother spoke, feeling a sharp jab of jealousy and hurt. He remembered the night that dear father told this story to Mufasa. No one had seen him hiding in the grass but he'd witnessed the special moment nonetheless. Being reminded of it now didn't help.

"So the stars are reserved only for kings." Taka spoke in a bored voice. "What abut the rest of us?"

Mufasa's gaze lowered to his brother and his mouth hung open, "I..." he paused, "I don't know..." he looked concerned for a moment, "But I'm sure there's a special place for all lions."

"Shadows behind the stars." Taka muttered, "Nothing more."
