When I was but a wee one, Moonstone was my favorite pony. Despite the fact no moon is present on her symbol, so her name makes no sense... But, it SPARKLES!!

I wouldn't really say Moonstone should be compared to Rainbow Dash. She's a blue pony with rainbow hair, as is RD, but she's a unicorn and RD is a pegasus, and we can't really know what Moonstone's personality is like since she was never on the original cartoon. I'd compare Rainbow Dash more to Firefly, because both of them are tough girls, and both of them are proud of their flying skills. I feel like Faust modeled this version of Rainbow Dash after Firefly from the old 80's cartoon in that way. Applejack is... sort of herself. She's something of a time paradox in a way, I guess. Fluttershy = Posey. Pinkie Pie = Surprise. Twilight Sparkle = Wind Whistler. Rarity = Heart Throb (probably).

You got almost spot on with the chart, except Twilight Sparkle was from Twilight, and Rarity was from Sparkler. According to he chart anyway. It's funny because it even says they are G1 ponies in spirit but with different names and colors because of naming rights, but now bronies seem to have forgotten that idea. Anyway others changed types in development, and last gen's RD and FiM's couldn't be more different. The colors made me wonder about Moonstone being an influence.
