Sie betrogen uns.
Just a doodle I did a little while ago.
witchiebunny painted in the title.
It started out with me just wanting to draw a Dragon wearing one of those hats (I'd love to have one) and ended up being something a little differant.
Because sometimes it's overlooked that the Allies weren't the only ones lied too - and exploited.

I know only enough German to be able to talk myself to a bathroom or a trainstation - nothing substantial without a dictionary.
The message here is really that not all Nazi' were evil, hate-filled bastards; and that the same insanity that swept Germany could very well have happened (under similar circumstances) to anyone of the human race, even in America.
The translation is suppost to read:
"BETRAYED! They deceived us."
As I said in the adjacent post, the German people were as much deceived and lied to as were the Allies.
The common soldier and the worker were lied to and exploited for the benefit of a twisted ideal.
And while that doesn't excuse individual deeds of cruelty or injustice, I still feel pity for those who gave all they had in noble defence of their country, only to realize just what that country had be twisted into - and how it twisted them in turn.

Your words drive me to tears. T~T
And you're totally right. Not every german soldier was evil. Of course, there were people who did this in full believe of the Nazi ethic, and eventually enjoyed it. But many just fought to defend themselves or their familys.
Fact is, that my grandpa fought in the war, because his family would have suffer under the circumstances of the conscientious objection. In worst cases, he would have been shot and his family would have to go into jail.

I met a man once who had been in the Romanian army, but when Romania was annexed by the Reich, he was put into the Wehrmacht.
To show that he was an 'integrated' soldeir and not a true German, he wore a Romanian flag patch on his shoulder.
At one time, Allied troops entered into his area and troops under his command killed at least two American paratroopers* (I'm unsure if he was correct about this - he knew no english and he might have ment just general troops).
