Marisha was born to a pair of poor refugees. Her parents were freedom fighters who grew disillusioned with the revolution in their home country and deserted the civil war. Her parents were well aware of the worst that humans can do, both from the tyranny they rebelled against and the horrors the lawless rebels committed. They didn’t see the same happening in their new city, but they still prepared their daughter.

She was taught self-defense- not martial arts, but how to end a fight as quickly and decisively as possible. Applied brutality. They also taught her to think critically and to be alert to the lies of those in power.

They did not expect how she would use their lessons.

When she was fourteen she found out about demons the hard way. She was attacked and a girl she barely knew sacrificed their life to save hers. It wasn’t enough. With her last breath she passed her power and her duty to Marisha.

This was traditional. Life expectancy for magical girls is quite low. They rarely make it to 18. After beating teh demonz with the initial rush of power her magical adviser arrived. She stayed quiet and listened to his advice and considered his training and came to the conclusion that the it was intended to be that way.

She would not be lied to. She would not be a pawn or a sacrifice.

Marisha is 24 now.
