In this picture is one of Domineus Dan's ancestors. This is the fifth picture showing a member of Domineus Dan's ancestors, with his father being the first, that have held the title of Lord of the noble House of Dan. The other previous Lords so far drawn are as follows:
Lord Dan 1989 - present: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4685856/ (portrait taken in December 2005)
Lord Dan 1937 - 1989: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7662843/ (photo taken in May 1958)
Lord Dan 1881 - 1937: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7673099/ (portrait taken in July 1892)
Lord Dan 1793 - 1831: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7046560/ (daguerreotype taken in February 1823)
Just to note, I have yet to make a picture protraying Domineus Dan's greta grandfather. Also, the invention of the daguerreotype process of photography was invented in the year 1837. However, in D. Dan's world, history is very different. Also, it takes place in a fantasy setting where advances come quicker and work hand in hand with magic. As such, i have the luxuary to state otherwise. ROFL. ^\/^.
For fun sake, instead of the usual protrait or family like photo of hte other lords, I decided to to a painting protraying this Lord Dan in one of his many battles. In this case, it is between him and the widely feared pirate king. For better fun, I decided to make this dashing yet feared pirate be the ancestor of one of my good long time Fur Affinity friends,
Sevlow. To make his ancestor more period like, I gave his ancestor the name Úlfur. It is just that name, and, besides sounding cool and badass like, it is Icelandic for wolf, or even timber wolf. This is perfect since Sevlow is a timberwolf. ^\/^.
Just to note, even though I name Sevlow's pirate king ancestor the Icelandic name and word for timber wolf , Úlfur, the place where this mighty pirate king comes from is still unknown and speculated to this day. ^\/^.
The Lord Dan pictured here on the rope fighting the pirate king Úlfur is in the first decade of his reign which was from 1648 - 1695. During this time, the noble Dan family were noble defenders of sea farring trade and economic water routes for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. ^\/^.
The the Lord Dan in the picture never really did catch the great pirate king Úlfur, he did succeed in driving Úlfur to other locations to do his piracy. Úlfur once stated his reasoning for leaving his original piracy hunting grounds saying "Ti's no longer fun with such a vain ill-bred harpy in me way". LOL. ^\/^
(Thank you http://www.william-shakespeare.org......-generator.htm for the made up period era type of insult.). LOL. ^\/^.
The ship in the back is Úlfur's ship. Though it is burning and messed up from the battle and such, it never sank and Úlfur sailed away in that boat that, despite its size, was somehow faster than Lord Dan's ship. Úlfur got back on his ship after losing interest in playing with Lord Dan and cutting the rope they were sparring on. Úlfur swung to the side of his ship as Lord Dan fell into the waters of the Avalonian Sea (aka North Sea in real life).
The type of ship Úlfur owns is a customized ship of the line. It has a captains quarters that has been extended to be five stories in height and with architectural additions to be more like a small floating palace than a mere captains quarters. It has floor to ceiling window bays and the entire captains quarters rests on an ingenious set of suspensions to completely reduce the rocking of the ship in waves, storms and even in the midst of heavy battle. The windows to the cabin are an early version of bullet proof glass and held up just as well, which is exceptinal for the period.
The ship's hull is made of three layers of reinforced siding so that even if the first and (rarely) second layers are run through with cannon and bullet fire, the ship remains intact and unable to sink. The ship is also wide for a ship of the line and longer as well, which makes breaking through heavy instense waves simple, like a knife through paper.
The name of his ship is 'Lupas Erika', which is Latin for, roughly in English, 'Wolven Rose'. It is spelled in a feminine way becuase Úlfur considered his ship as one of his favorite ladies. The symbol on the side of the ship is that of three roses upon a stemmed bush. This is the coat of arms that Úlfur chose for himself for his innate ability to control and summon plants from himself and other nearby locations. His specialty is that of summoning roses on the fly and handing them to lovers and others, along with a heavy charismatic personality, earned the pirate king Úlfur the reputation as one of the top casanovas of the period. He was an irrestible and charismatic rogue who has the dizzying ability to drive woman and men wild. Úlfur, besides being charismatic and a casanova, was also known for being brash and comedically impudent to authority figures. ^\/^.
The choice of Lord Dan having this painting made was due in part of the pirate king Úlfur being such a notable nuisance and infamous celebrety that he must be included. Also, one of the finest painters in Europe at the time happened to be on the Lord Dan's ship at the time, and was so inspired by the sparring between Lord Dan and the pirate king Úlfur not far off from him, that he quickly took out his art supplies and did a quick sketch. Lord Dan, after the battle, comissioned the famous painter to finish the drawing and make it into a painting.
