Always so playful, so optimistic, ready to do the craziest of things, and both easy to the eyes and eager to 'get down to business'... one would suspect that Synn would be a mostly carefree soul, as she appears to be one on almost every level.
But she do hide a dark secret and one darker than one might suspect. And not in the usual, predictable way of having done something bad.
There exist a far-off continent in the world, a world where no one ever grow up, where pain does not exist, where problems usually faced by the souls of the world are non-existent. Is it an utopia or a fairy tale mockery of life? Regardless of what it is, its continued existence rely upon the extraction of everything negative that should have occured within this land and storing it into crystals known as Pulses of Death. But the creation of those gems is not enough...
The divine entity that rule this continent make it so that one of the new souls within his land will be born with a Pulse of Death every generation. This being is born cursed, having the negative energies of the gem leak into the soul's mind progressively over time, infusing the being with a desire for self-destruction that grow stronger with each passing year.
But the Pulse of Death's curse is even more insidious for it is not a curse of the body only but one of the soul. When a soul gives in to the temptation of death given by the gem or simply dies somehow, the Pulse act as a weight. It drags the soul all the way down to the lowest level of the Hellscape, the plane usually reserved for the vilest, most unrepenting of the damned, those who transgressed the most sacred of laws. There, those unfortunate souls are doomed to the single most painful and breaking of all torments for all eternity.
Those souls are without hope of redemption or salvation. They are born damned, their names inscribbed into the Hellscape, destined to suffer so that their native continent can continue to be a mockery of a storybook for children.
As all records of such souls are deleted as mandated by the divine rulers, the few who know of them call them the Forgotten, those damned for the crime of existing.
One day among many, the Undead of the lands of the Gate wished to have some fun. They visited the continent and kidnapped a couple of 'kitty-cats', sentient felines from that land. The undead had only wished for someone to play with.
Unfortunately, being removed from their native land, the couple of felines went mad as they found themselves quickly aged and suddenly exposed to concepts their minds could not even begin to imagine. Within the year, they were dead. Yet, within the space of the year, during their instinct and madness-driven rampages, the two had mated and ultimately, brought forth a single kitten.
The undead raised the small kitten, calling her 'Synn'. As their land was not often graced with fully living beings, they loved her dearly. However, worry greatly spread among the spirits as they noticed that their charge had a very noticeable purple crystal spike stuck in her forehead, a long dagger that went all the way to the center of her brain and that no Phaze could remove or even scratch...
