i said "iconic" though, not one of the best lovestories ever X3
personally i think that part of the story (and the plot itself) are rather flat. out of all final fantasy games i think this plot makes the least sense. its also riddled with enormous plotholes.
SPOILER
for example, at the end they decide to save the world by doing what the villain wanted to do all along (compressing time and space into nothingness... i guess?) and try to believe really really hard in friendship and whatnot to get everything back to normal.
