This is very much not a poor attempt, it's just the early onset of a nebula. What program did you use for it?

used FumeFX in 3dsmax 2012

You could totally have a ton of fun with the contrasts and artistic renditioning that photoshop can offer just by using the bases you've already started here. Not this one in particular, but I was just browsing through your other stuff as well and you can't get that sort of feel from photoshop, but once you have an image started it's rather good for detailing and subtle changes.

I think you have done a A+ job on this space/astronomy pic, Digitalkid. You should do a couple more.
