How big should the picture be? you see when i scan my images in, it's usually really big, this isn't a really big problem with me but thing is, is that my computers memory is 312MB and using the the image in it's original state would use up my memory, what should the width, hight and resolution be, to properly make the image better?
well for that memory... you should use a 1600x1400 pixels drawing, resolution in 300 (that's the dpi)
if you scanning a drawing, use 300 or 600, depending on how much detail you want to put it later.
then you can resize it to the size you feel like for working on it, but I recommend bigger than 1400x1400, then once you done, save it as a PNG, open it as a PNG and resize it to your normal size drawings, mine is 800X700 :3

That's pretty much how I do things. Except that I use Painter and then I fiddle around with all the wrong buttons.
I think I learned something new. That clipping layer thingie is divine. But you already taught me how to use that before making this tutorial. Thanks for sharing this! =)

Some interesting method you've got there. I love how there's a million and one ways to do the same thing in photoshop ^.^ I may make a tut at some point, but I'll probably just call it "This is how I maek teh art-like pics" just because "tutorial" invites the elite hordes to tell you how wrong you are.
so true, but a tutorial is something that it teach how to do something, and I'm pretty sure I showed how to do a shading method ^^
if the "elite hordes" come here they really don't have much to say~, cause I'm not wrong in anything that I showed there :3
now they can suggest a better method, in that Case I would be glad to listen, but it doesn't make my method "wrong"

"elite hordes" and "wrong" being used sarcastically. As an example many would shout to high heavens of never using the smudge tool ever. (usually because they've never been able to use it effectively)
I would agree that your tutorial is very informative , and worded in a passive, kind-hearted manner. (and including many cute little sketches)
It is always fun to see new methods, and I'm sure I'll end up trying some of these steps once or twice.

hey thanks ya for that man, I wouldn't use my finger tip in real life for shading anything cause it always end all messy XD! but Digital ish really good :3!
by the way, I never took your comment like if it were an aggressive Troll comment, if my reply made you feel like that, I'm deeply Sorry.
