Otherwise I can getcha up and running in about 10 minutes sharing desktops. It's just the basics that are a bit weird.

I thought no one would ever use it, besides the animation nerds on my old school. It turns out to be quite easy to use :D

I'm hearing studios are starting to convert over to it in Europe now, Cartoon Saloon is the latest to make the switch.

France is the real hub tho, I really wish I knew the language better - "Desolé, je suis Anglais" will only get me so far :I

And thanks, yeah, animating weapons in perspective is seriously difficult - I don't know how the guys at Ghibli do it so well, it's crazy.

if you can get your hands on a 3d model as from a video game, might help to use as reference!

I've actually been a step further and modeled the main character's rifle and helmet and overlayed the 3D over the 2D keyframes in some earlier shots, but at the end of the day it didn't save any time and looked the same as eyeballing it. Instead I bought some little 1/12th models of the guns, they're pretty dinky but they help. Clearly, they don't help get you the scale relative to the characters, of course :P

This looks rather impressive! I tried using TVPaint once, but I was rather slow with it :c

TVP - it's all about the shortcuts!

Also animating in general is a slow process, half of animation school for me was figuring out just how slow a process it really is. It's a silly way to make a film.

And for sure, I'll be sharing the film as best I can. Can't wait to show it :)

Then I'll have to learn to be much more patient while working in an animation! c:
