Rahier are a species/creature that I've developed to encompass a few of my costume designs, including the Grey Witch. I do not intend to be super protective of the Rahier, so if anyone wants to make a Rahier character, please do! I only ask that you do not use them for commercial purposes, and credit me with the actual name "Rahier" if you use it.
On that note, I realize that this design isn't amazingly original - there are many felines with horns out there. I'm not going to accuse anyone of "stealing the Rahier" or anything silly like that.
Some additional notes that I didn't put on the reference:
- They may wear any variety of clothing, jewelry, or other adornments. They may also go about in nothing.
- Despite the "model" look of the examples above, Rahier may have virtually any body type (just like people).
- The tails of the Rahier are typically reminiscent of an almost horse-like tail, with very long hair covering a somewhat short actual tail. However, some will also have longer tails, which may simply have tufts or sections of the longer hair, or may simply be short fur. The tails are generally flexible and cat-like.
If you have any other questions about these guys, ask in the comments here and I'll answer - possibly modifying the description. Don't ask anything dirty, though!
EDIT: More Info!
Rahier are mortal, but they live for a very long time - probably about 1000 years.
Rahier reproduction:
When a Rahier/Orahier parent/parents desire offspring, a Rahier/Orahier child is born somewhere in the world to a surrogate mother. The Surrogate can be any species, and that species would both have an influence on the appearance (and probably behavior) of the child, and would reflect the Rahier parent's ideals for their offspring. When the child is born/hatched (or maybe when the child is almost ready to be born/hatched), the Rahier parents set out to retrieve them. They instinctively/magically know where to go, and the means by which they retrieve the child (stealing it away in the night, thanking/blessing the surrogate, killing the surrogate, etc) would depend on the nature of the individual Rahier. In the case of an egg, the Rahier parents may or may not take the egg and incubate it themselves.

Finally! *Headbutt of love* I am saving up when I'm 18 for Minke. I love the Rahier. Thank you for letting me join this race. I was glad to be able to drill this into your mind haha. For some reason, you think of something great, and a month later it hits me too! Its weird. We got... mind powers!
I really like the design...I may end up making one or two. I love how they look so very regal~
One question though...how do they age? Do they age at a normal rate (normal for human standards anyway) or do they age at a slower rate? Or do they not age at all or perhaps quicker? I'm sorry, I'm curious. XD

Oh, good question! I should probably draw what an age progression might look like. In general, though, I think they'd be like elves in how they age - very, very slowly and with a very long life span (maybe like 1000 years or so). Given that they shed their horns every 100 years, they would certainly have to live longer than people.
Hmm... good question. I'm thinking they would have fairly exotic-sounding names, but that might be just my personal preference. Still, I have trouble picturing a Rahier named "Jenny" or "Steve", so I guess... tend to more fantasy-sounding stuff.
That said I just made a Rahier costume named Victor and I feel it works perfectly well for me, so whatever suits the character is fine as far as I'm concerned.

Well frankly, I am usually under the impression that I have to be a SPESHUL SNOWFLAKE but because of the similarities, and in light of having been inspired to redesign her in the first place after my first AC spent with you two years ago, I would love to tie in the chinacat somehow! Thanks for all the aesthetic inspiration and for getting me back into the fae aesthetic in the many years since I had seen the Dark Crystal.
I have no idea how I'd explain away her wings and porcelain qualities though. Ancient bio-automaton??? fffs haha
In any case, I'd love to have her painted by you sometime. More things to save up for!

You know, I was totally thinking about this, haha. What about a spell or a curse? And hey, bio-automaton kinda works - or magical animate, like a golem. Pinocchio!
But yeah, I figure that whatever world they fit into, there would definitely be magic (I mean, fae, there would have to be), so most things can be... explained...

Given that they're fae, I'm not sure they really evolved at any point so much as like... popped out of the earth ;) Variations would probably be magical counterparts or just similar groups, that sort of thing. Gotta think on how much I really want to expand this, though.

I really like the design of these species! I want to make me some charakter of the Rahier/Orahier.
but there are some questions cruising in my head I want to ask. ^^
how old is a rahier/orahier when it come to age?
what kind of magic do they use? (ghost magic, necromancy, element magic, some other kind of magic ... ?)
are they mammals or do they get their kids from eggs?

I'm thinking they might officially come of age at 100 years, when they first lose their first set of horns.
They could use any magic. Their personalities vary as much as humans, so if a human (fantasy) character would do it, a Rahier/Orahier character could do it also.
I've been giving some thought, actually, to their reproduction. The Rahier seem far more mammalian, but then the Orahier can be basically reptillian, so it's hard to say whether they would have live births or lay eggs. Or, for that matter, whether their children would just pop out of the ground or something.
After some thought, here's what we think would be most suited to the rahier/orahier: When a Rahier/Orahier parent/parents desire offspring, a Rahier/Orahier child is born somewhere in the world to a surrogate mother. The Surrogate can be any species, and that species would both have an influence on the appearance (and probably behavior) of the child, and would reflect the Rahier parent's ideals for their offspring.
