He is a percheron and when he stands up I cant see over his back. not even on my tippy toes. Hes a gelding btw. Like almost all us horses who are in the public eye all the time. Police and parks generally use geldings only. Can ya guess why? :)

Well, no balls to weigh him down, hehe. Once their production of testosterone is gone, they begin to become more femmenine and may lose a bit of mass, making them more agile and more like just a big colt. Not as heavy as a well fed mare or a well muscled stallion. Plus, there is less chance of a relaxed gelding getting a happy time, hehe. And because of their lose in hormone, they can easily be used around other horses and animals without fear of a fight or mounting
Awwww... Percherons!!! I love draft horses
Geldings? hmmm... I guess because geldings are more guiet than stallions and it's easier to keep them in control? I think it's important cause policemen usually go together in a group too close to each other. And stallions may fight with each other

Stallions can be kept to ether if theres no mares about. Done that one my self. And a well trained stallion will walk away from a mare in heat if asked to. Though granted this is a level of training I don't think most places are prepared for. With mares its much easer.
The real reason? Mares and stallions have sexual reactions to some situations and the average American wants animals to be sexless. And how much more sexless then can you get then a horse who was gelded with in a few days of birth!
