I totally forgot about this in the journal I posted! On day 14, Steph and I were leaving school for the day, and we saw this bird just standing near the wheel of a parked truck, dangerously close to the road. We walked up to it in an effort to make it flap off, but it didn't even budge, just looked at us o.o
Steph reached down to pick it up, and it didn't even flap or squawk or anything... it was the most docile little bird I'd ever seen in the "wild", it was crazy. He was a beautiful little guy, and he pretty much refused to fly. We stood there and examined him for a bit, to see if he was hurt, but couldn't find anything apart from one or two ruffled feathers.
To the right of the frame was a vegetable garden, beyond which was a small line of trees, where we saw other birds flying. We walked over and set him down, at which point he started squawking, which was the first sign of energy we saw from him. He flew back towards the garden, in the direction of the street, at which point an elderly Korean woman grasped him a bit firmer than we did, and walked over to us, talking to us in Korean. Steph isn't fluent, but she could understand a few words, and when the woman rubbed her tummy and mentioned eating, Steph was startled and said "Nono! I'm vegetarian!" XD It was hilarious.
Apparently what the woman was saying is that the bird was hungry, and she sees this sort of thing often. After about 10 minutes of her talking to us, and Steph only half-understanding, we set him back down near the trees, where he stayed a bit longer this time. At this point it had been about half an hour, and I went to leave. Steph stayed for a while longer to keep an eye on him.
He was a beautiful little bird, but almost nil survival instincts, apparently lol..
