Yeah, I'm drawing my character as a male nurse. Mainly because I am myself-- recently graduated and all and the new hasn't worn off yet. Still pretty awkward and I would like to redo this in a different way-- now I can use scrubs that aren't my school's colors anymore, so YAY!

MOST people are-- I'm more nervous about the people that WANT to get an IV. That throws up some big red flags to me, haha. I just try and tape it up as well as possible and make it as comfortable as it can be for the poor guy or gal needing one.
I personally never have had an IV other than to donate blood so I guess I'm fortunate in that sense (even though they tend to use a 16 gauge needle, which is a good deal larger than the 20s and 22s I like to use in-hospital). I've gotten to the point where people don't tend to feel anything past the alcohol when I am going for lab draws, injections or on very off chances, a smaller IV. There was even a request once that a patient get me to put in another IV for them because they didn't feel it, haha.

im fine with stuff coming out of my body with an IV jsut going in i feel like thats it there is no going back after its in your body than the shit on TV about air bubbles and my anxiety i can do a compleatly random total freakout where every nurse on the floor has to come and assist XD
Well, the truth is that it takes a substantial air bubble to cause a pulmonary embolism or some other kind of infarct since the body will "scrub" small enough ones from the bloodstream by dissolving it, and most (I'd say all, but I don't want to risk being wrong) modern IV flowrate machines have air detectors in the line. There are also filters and valves in many lines as well but yeah, I suspect you're not the only one to worry, lol
