Short Fugue in D-moll, BWV 554, by Johann Sebastian Bach
1 minute 50 seconds
Count Hippotaur's next spooky musical offering for this October from the dusty old pipe organ in his desolate hilltop castle is The Prelude and Fugue in D-moll.
A fugue is a musical form where a theme starts out in one voice of the music, then the next voice starts out with the same theme, then the third (all in the hands) then finally the fourth (played with the feet). Similar to a round like ''Row Row Row Your Boat'' except that in a fugue a voice can start the theme in a different key. The first 24 notes of this piece are the theme which repeats.
Performed semi-live on October 4, 2007 on Casio CT-670 synthesizer. Manuals played live into the synthesizer's memory and then Pedal played live on top of memory playback.
Music composed before 1750 by Johann Sebastian Bach (public domain)
