Ok so went to work with and idea for a claw took in aluminum bar stock and a shot in the dark... Didn't work. So came home and drew it up in Inventor so I have a better idea how I am going to go about cutting it out. Got a better idea now but defiantly see its going to be a real challenge to do on a manual milling machine and lathe. There both old as dirt to so that don't help matters I see a lot of hand work in my future and less machining.

well... one idea you could try is to just mill down the flat faces and then break out a good, old fashioned file, would be a lot of work, but unless you've got a really fancy mill it's pretty much the only thing you can do other than casting, which honestly, if your that handy, the equipment to do casting is only a couple hundred bucks... if you want aluminum you can make or buy an original out of acrylic and then make your negative out of good clay, melt the acrylic out, and replace it with aluminum... you gotta break the molds, but it'll come out perfect with the least amount of effort
