Two bare bulb flashes were used, one as a side light kicker, the other as a fill (it's position varied based on the suit and pose). Black suits REALLY benefit from being aggressive with the lighting. You NEED the specular highlighting from the individual hairs reflecting back with a harsh and non-diffuse light. This is how you properly photograph a black suit to give it the texture, shades, and sense of depth it deserves.
