Yet another drawing commissioned from
tegerio, on whom I rely for excellent artwork (he is recommended).
We see here Sir Josslyn Buckhorn, Bt. (as he then was), the controlling shareholder and CEO of F.R. Buckhorn & Sons, the worldwide herbivore yummies makers. Joss, as you can see, eats some of the profits. He's a buck who likes his breakfast.
His mate, Lady Gwladys Buckhorn, is of the "breakfast wisely and well" frame of mind. Of course, her mind is also distracted by a copy of The Sporting News. Lady Gwladys is a Philadelphian by birth, and thanks to assorted shrewd investing, she's rich enough on her own to buy the Philadelphia Phillies, who in the 1930s (when these characters were active) were gawd-awful.
Joss, a Brit by birth (though his sire and grandsire were both Aliquippa, PA born) doesn't quite get American sports. He's of the mistaken view that the Sultan of Swat is a fur who got tossed out by the Bolsheviks and had to take to sports to pay the bills.
I enjoy J.W. Kennedy's draughtsmanship. Close attention to his drawings always pays off, as you constantly spot fun details.
