And then Pie got ticked.
But not ticked enough to make new art and instead just pasted something she made months ago onto a... wall of text. Yes I realize the hypocrisy of replying to a wall of text with a wall of text.
Please, stop reposting that damn thing like it's a chain letter.

That's the thing I hate most about stuff like this. It's emotional blackmail. "If you don't repost this, you don't agree with it!"
Which is absurd. Whether I agree with it or not is beside the point; you're employing tactics that prey upon the naive. That's dishonest and will hurt your cause more than anything.
I may like and support many things, from my faith to staying clean of drugs, but I'm not about to do something like this to "increase support". Or to advertise my beliefs. I'd rather just talk to people honestly and find practical, workable solutions to any and all problems.
But it seems some just want to make me feel bad for not reposting their wall of text. How pathetic.

Another thing is... it's so insincere. What better way to show you care about something than to just copypasta someone else's feelings instead of articulating your own?
If someone does an art or writing piece THEMSELVES about bullying, that has heart. Reposting an ugly jpeg of dumb text someone wrote? Does not.

Man, I am so glad I'm too lazy to read poorly written walls of text like that or I might be mildly annoyed with it right now. Also thanks for that link up there at the top of the comments. The one guy defending the uploader had the most glorious semantics malfunction I've seen in a long time. Fun times.
But PIE! Watching a video or a looking a a .jpg and reposting it is so virtuous and makes me a better person!
I mean, it's not like I can research and donate to a worthy charity or maybe even, god-forbid, offer to volunteer for a cause I believe in! I mean, clearly reposting pathos-based memes designed to emotionally blackmail me is way better then actually looking into a issues and finding out what I can actually do to help, right?

I don't see any implications. This is not a derogation for those who could care less. In fact, I know how to stand up for myself, I know how to take control of a real life situation.
If you don't agree then you could state that! If you do, you could repost. If you could care less, then ignore it.
Nobody forces you to read something and then demands a decision like it's life or death. Assuming so, however, can lead to all of this. *points up*

I can't even believe I'm arguing this. It doesn't NEED to say that word for word! I'm not surprised you're buying into this, at this point.
And please, don't even get me STARTED on how horribly juvenile the writing itself is. It's not some well thought out tome showing someone was taking real reflection on the state of bullying in the world. It's written with all the care of a chain letter and composed of mindless, cheap attempts at manipulating emotions.
It's insincere, just like reposting it is.

This is an art website, and so is DA. Neither of them are strictly social websites like Facebook, a place for minute-updates of how cute your cat looks. No matter how cute it really is, I don't like seeing the same "art" posted fifteen times in one search/filling up my submission inbox, sorry. That's clutter and it's annoying. :/
As you also said, it is pointless, and ineffective against bullying. It's for pretentious jerks who like to flaunt it to make themselves seem more "humanitarian."

Just out of curiosity, how do you feel about reposts that contain information about the subject at hand?
For example, a while back I reblogged on Tumblr a post giving a brief synopsis about Depression and explaining why some of the common misconceptions are wrong. I felt that was a good idea to pass on because it actually contained useful information and by sharing it, hopefully more people would see it and learn something important.

Pie, I am offended.
You have clearly posted this as a way to draw my attention to this issue of people being stupid and get me pissed off at all of them. I am being emotionally bullied, here!
Seriously, though, if those things came with some link to an organization, charity or other effort that works to stop bullying, if only they offered an ANSWER rather than re-stating the obvious "bullying is bad" remark and subsequently bullying viewers into reposting it, I would be in support of this blind chain-mail spreading. But that's apparently TOO MUCH WORK for the slacktivists. All they can do is blindly spread more bullying in image form.
GG, sheep. (NOT THAT I HAVE ANYTHING WRONG WITH SHEEP. (I should really watch my language on these furry sites...))

Donate time. If you cannot donate time, get up, get a job, donate money.
If you can neither donate time nor money, you're lacking two of the most fungible and flexible assets that can be used, and should be ready to start jumping through some really big and convoluted hoops to make a difference.
Like that...that fucking Avaaz.org thing.
I gave them money once, now they flood my inbox like stray cats around a too-generous hotdog vendor.
IT WAS ONLY FIVE DOLLARS, WHYYYYY?!

The implication that I made this intending to solve anything is what baffles me. Or that I'm responsible for other people's actions. Someone brings this up everytime I make a comic about something and a few people go out of their way to cause trouble because of it.
I'd rather keep saying what I want to say than hide it because other people can't behave themselves. Sorry, I don't regret posting this one iota.

I have to agree with you pie =3
as a victim of 17 years of bullying this helps me how?
I mean come on... if you wanna take a stance against bullying fine. You can do so. Please. But be creative. Like i don't know. Go to a school and offer them anti bullying seminars? Or maybe stop bullies when you see them happen to everyone.
But posting the same text all the time is just plain stupid and brings absolutely nothing except "Dayum, I'm such a good person! *fap fap fap*"

wow. just. wow.
Okay, here's the thing. Reading the comments is reaching tl;dr territory with me, so bear with it if it's already been covered. thanks.
Spreading images like the "bully" one, doesn't help, makes people aware, but doesn't help.
One. Little. Bit.
Bullies oft have esteem issues of their own, whom seek to boost it by lowering the esteem of others, that's the general psychology behind it.
However, others are just arseholes with social and personality issues, among other things.
You'll find that bullies, while they're victimizing others, are in need of help just as much as the victim, if not more.
That said, being someone who /was/ bullied quite often in his youth, i only have this to say: posters would not help, awareness of the issue, did not help (i've mentioned to teachers at the time, largely inneffective)..
what did help, i hear you ask? a good right hook. If you're being bullied, learn to not take their shit anymore, and show it to them. If you want to stop bullying in general, roll up your sleeves, and do something about it, see someone being bullied in the workplace? either call them on it, or report their arse.
Folks like this generally respond only to action, posting a pretty picture with text is not an action, more like bandwagoning on a couch.

Agreed, but sadly fighting in school these days leads to punishment of both parties. And if the bullied person threw the first punch, oft-times they get a more severe reprimand/suspension. School is, sadly, a police state in which guilt and innocence do not matter. There's no burden of proof, and children have no rights.
And given the perceived lack of justice, people have the gall to be shocked that children take guns to school after receiving the message that might makes right and right and wrong do not matter so long as there is ORDER. The only thing that surprises me about school shootings are that the students appear to be targeted more than the faculty who enable and perpetuate a system that is ripe for abuse.
Tl;DR: School discipline is broken and getting crazier.

I know this is a bit after the point- but it's not the school discipline that's broken- it's parents teaching their kids the right thing to do.
How many parents do YOU know that actually teach their child to do the right thing and bring the problem to the attention of an adult? Because from everything I've seen- kids think fighting is the right answer when it isn't.
I have two younger sisters, one that got picked on by others older than her- which was resolved by us telling her to go straight to her teacher and tell them what is going on. Get it through their head that "tattling" isn't something to be ashamed of, that it's the correct way to handle things.

Eh, no one is going to share life experiences. But saying the entirety of a school system is corrupt is going far, no matter how you look at it. So someone doesn't listen, keep going, keep reaching for help. Tell parents. Tell principal. Go above and beyond- someone will listen- someone will help. You find who does their job. Have parents go to the district. Someone. Will. Listen.
There's never a reason for fighting. There's never a reason for violence. This is why things like this get perpetuated, and this is why it keeps happening in a horrible vicious cycle.
No one will share life experiences- but it doesn't mean that saying something like that is going to be true. The way a school works is going to be like with any business that is out there- some people will do their jobs the way that they're supposed to and some won't. Blaming an entire group for the mistakes of few is insulting and unnecessary.
That out there. I now bid YOU goodnight.

If people wanna write their OWN text, or draw their OWN picture and post THAT, then I think it's okay because they put the effort in, which means they actually care enough to think about what they're saying. Those reposted things, though... Yeah. No. Thanks. Waste of space and now I'm afraid to touch my inbox. I love the people I watch but so many of them do this stuff... :'c
You know I saw this and it inspired me to write a poem about bullies.

Thank you for inspiring me to write that. :3

I just love that... people are so fucking lazy that if it "bothers them SO MUCH" they don't do something REAL about it. :|
Donate your free time to helping the bullied kids and people instead of just reposting bullshit to a site that only people YOU CONNECT TO are going to see. Because, you know, you're FB BFFs with the person that hurts you the most and bullies you.
People need to stop acting like morons about this stuff and actually DO something. :|
Luckily I never ran into any of this while it started out. ;D
