Meh, you got me stumped. I can barely draw them doggies. Maybe less muzzle. Like their noses don't protrude out as much as a dog's. My old cat zorro barely had any muzzle at all! XD Hope that helps, im really more of a writer than an artist, but I try my best. Love your work regardless though. Eons better than myself.
Yeah I do believe their muzzles are giving me the most difficulty. The muzzle makes up 90% of a dog's face, but only 30% of a cat's face, so my cats end up with huge, over-exaggerated noses. Waffles is just being particularly difficult about this. As an Oriental cat, she has a long slender, pointed face with a longer muzzle than most cats. So trying to represent her breed without contradicting the species has me drawing in circles. x3
Thanks for the comment. :3 I appreciate the good words.

cats are assholes.
i swear they're being hard to draw on purpose.
more on topic, Jet-RaveHusky was right about the muzzles. They tend to be quite short, and unlike a dog's they slope downwards. Other than that, just keep in mind the fact that they tend to have rounder faces, and the placement of the ears. http://www.cutepicturesofcats.com/t.....at_Profile.jpg
what am I talking about i can't even draw cats properly dasdfg. just ignore me im a dumb okay
okay

Well part of the problem is that Waffles is an oriental cat, based largely off of the Oriental Shorthair breed, which has a much longer muzzle and facial structure than your average house cat has.
http://www.cfanorthwest.org/topcats.....12/bw/b82a.jpg Which is making things difficult. x3 I see the rounded face aspect, but because of her breed, I keep trying for this oval shape rather than a pure circle. I even draw the bridge of her nose as a separate shape to make sure I get that smooth, rounded look to it. But her eyes always mess it up.
DAMMIT CATS WHY U SO HARD
dontmakeitawkwardnow x3

Ah! I'd completely forgotten about the orientals. Whoops. In that case, instead of using a separate shape for her muzzle, maybe just try a curved line? If that makes any sense. http://www.orientalcats.com.au/images/profile.jpg http://usyaka.files.wordpress.com/2.....02/mg_0612.jpg Don't know if you're looking to go for that extreme of a profile, but orientals do have quite curvy heads, lmao. Just extending a curved line from the top of her head, and putting just a bit of a kink in it may help a bit. Oh wait, unless you were going for like... more of a mix of oriental and 'standard' (for lack of a better term)?
Her eyes look fine to me, tbh. I really think it's all in the angle of the muzzle. But that's just my two cents! c:
and I swear I'm the epitome of awkward, lmao. awkwardness is like my second shadow or something. i can't help it. ;w;'

I find cats to be awkward to draw as well...
I'd say just reference and study the different aspects of the cat. This one looks kind of oriental so maybe go onto breeders' pages and check out their show photos?
I'd offer to photograph my Siamese for you to use as reference but she's still a kitten and has some growing to do so she's still awkwardly proportioned... with her tiny head xD

fft, I can't draw cats either. The only tip I'd have about the breed and stuff is that in the picture to the right the muzzle looks a but thick and long- even for that breed. It reminds me of a lion, which I can't draw either XD
Good stuff, though. Better than most kitty beginners. Also, most cats have a cheek bone, which helps when drawing. To see it well, ask your boobins 'cause her cat breed (the swamp ones) have prominent cheekbones so you can locate them and stuff.
Herp derp comment is herp derpin'.

*jots down some notes.....then some more...then more...* I am still a beginner artist as far as drawing goes, although I've been doing it forever. I did not know their noses slanted downwards, or that a dog's muzzle is 90% of the face. Maybe if I took anatomy or animal science or something that would help me some. But anyways, if you want some advice, isnt your boobins, like, super amazing at cats! If I am correct one of her sonas is a bobcat after all. Maybe she can throw you some pointers? Or at least slap you for not getting them right the first time. lol.
To be honest, I can only do canids. So I am no help whatsoever here. And my friend wants me to draw him, he's a fox. They got some weird muzzles on them. But, I guess my final advice is, shorter muzzle, the one's Ive seen in real life are mostly flat faced, and maybe talk to KayLink. She can draw cats, I'm sure.

Hmm .__.
I'd say... taper the muzzle to more of a point (like this one http://www.catsofaustralia.com/imag.....20oriental.jpg ) , remove the "stop" that dogs tend to have on the bridge of their noses between the eyes (http://www.housecatscentral.com/oriental2.jpg ) and for orientals and slender animals in particular, exaggerate the cheekbones and the outsides of the eye sockets ( http://www.photomazza.com/IMG/jpg_O.....eppe_Mazza.jpg )
Hope that was helpful ;___; I don't often draw cats either.

Oriental cats, amirite?
They're a pain, especially the profile is hard to get down while not looking like a dog or rat. I've only just started drawing something like that with my new character -> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8240812/ not sure if these are gonna help you or not.
One thing I notice mainly is that the slope down from brow to nose is much less angled than with dogs but if you're not careful it ends up looking like a rat... ugh I suck at trying to explain things, sorry >_>

I'd help you but I'm really bad at explaining things XD I can draw them and show it a lot better than explain it. Rather than thinking the heads maybe think more about an odd triangle shape when working them?
I'm guessing this would be the sort of look your going for as far as profile shape. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7828869/ or http://frostbittenruins.deviantart......-Now-270568454 My fursona isn't completely oriental cat but most of her facial structure for the most part is. Not sure how extreme you're wanting the profile of your characters face. Otherwise I'd suggest studying cats like the siamese and just drawing the face til you get it.
Here's a more extreme face but not in pure profile. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8191716/ Hope this helps. Not very helpful ^_^;

Sometimes I can only draw cats and other times, I can only draw dogs. (And sometimes neither, depending on how I'm feeling emotionally) The thing to remember with orientals is that their faces tend to mimic that of larger cats, and while not exactly the same shape if you're more familiar with big cats it's a very helpful tip.
everytime I see your kitty doodles and stuff I start thinking of siamese cats because of the long muzzles and big ears. x3
I think you draw cats just excellent.
Way better than me.
I don't have any advises. Other than if they're bothering you extremely freaking annoyingly much.. Reference you know. :3
Reference is always good
