In the 1960s Dundee council built the infamous Ardler district. Built on an old golf course, it consisted of six massive multi-storey blocks of flats (the biggest in Dundee) and many smaller walk up blocks and housing. The area was constructed to tackle the housing boom and served it's purpose for several decades.
Things have changed dramatically. The multis were demolished between 1995 and 2007 and the walk-up blocks are long gone as well. Today there are none, and new housing is now built where the old ones stood. It is such a shock that such seemingly permanent looking structures were really just part of a passing transition.
