Since I was a child I've always found the small three wheeled cars that came out of early post-war West Germany to be fascinating despite all their shortcomings. One I particularly liked was the BMW Isetta. I remember my dad telling stories about one of his friends who bought one and dorve it across the US. in the mid-fifties. To top it off he had the entire thing painted by a local hot rod artist to look like a giant Big Daddy Roth flaming eyeball. He told my dad that driving through the midwest was, interesting since most people there had never heard, or seen, of the Isetta never mind one that looked like a giant flaming eyeball! Apparently it was looked upon in the same way as a flying saucer landing in the town square. This is some sketches I did years ago for shits and giggles.

Actually if it is one I'm thinking of, that would be a Fiat 500C. My father had one of those when I first born and I barely remember it. The amazing thing was that it was very roomy inside and could actually fit four adults. True when they got out it looked liked a bunch clowns getting out of circus car, but the fact that could do it all was amazing!
Heehee...
I think the craziest thing I ever saw was one of these with the back end gutted out, a big Corvette V8 stuffed in, and a single huge drag-racing slick for the back tire, cantilevered out like on a motorcycle.
Front end was fancied up, too, much larger wheels and tires out on extended wishbones.
