balls ftw. I really want one, but space and money say no at the moment, so lizards it is. And yeah, feeding's a pain because it has to be alive, crix are loud and messy, and it sucks waking up in the middle of the night with an escapee crawling across your foot... yuck! If you get used to it its not that bad. I had a firebellied toad when I was 7 so it's nothing new :P
Boas are awesome, but I'm more of a Python fan. Live snake birth weirds me out XD

i love the live snake birth.. its why i love boas. thats what im looking into breeding. we had a king snake lay but sadly we didnt have the right stuff for her eggs and we lost them. its so sad to lose them :(

long link.. but thats my fave morph of the balls.. soooo pretty.. i love the high whites.
and balls are not really to much money.. we paid $75 for this guy and his set up.. only thing we had to do was add water. if your in the US you can get a normal for like $30. buy a used tank off line, thats what we do for all our feeder rats and our snakes.. used is way cheaper! and it works great also.. it does not need to hold water so can be cracked.. and thats almost free right there!
and i could not get used to crickets.. they make me sick i screamed every time one jumped.. so i said no more.. i tried it and could not do it. tho we do have to feed our snakes live but rats are way cuter and fun to play with. sadly they have to die.. but snakes got to eat.. and ours will not touch anything dead, so live it is.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that :C I know it'd be terrible if I lost a clutch. I haven't tried breeding yet as mine are all quite young (oldest is almost 2 years), but I'd like to somewhere down the line.
75$ For setup + snake is actually not that bad.. I never thought to ask for broken ones, but I'm getting ready to buy a bigger tank, so definitely good to know :3
I like Axanthic balls myself, especially the bumblebee ones.... https://www.google.com/search?hl=en.....ch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=c-PnT4r7G5Oo8ATQus2qAQ#um=1&hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=axanthic+bumblebee+python&oq=axanthic+bumblebee+python&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_l=img.3...2979.3977.0.4195.6.6.0.0.0.0.131.583.4j2.6.0.eish..0.0.9DHOoIX3f7I&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=7453c7b6d644f59a&biw=1280&bih=614
Though I have thought about pieds. They're beautiful snakes.
I think I'd be okay with feeding rats, but I've only had hamsters in the past so I don't know anything about them. How long do you usually have them before they get eaten, & how much do they usually cost?

oh yes that morph is sooo pretty.. id love to have one also!
and yes broken is great cuz its super cheap. it has no need for water so its great. we got a 90gal tank that has holes in it for $45.. great tank no need for water and huge.
with rats it depends on the size you need. most of our snakes eat 4 week old pups.. so you can buy them or breed your own. we have about 16 grown rats who we breed and we have TONS of pups right now.. from newborn up to ones ready to be fed. in the end you save alot more if you have your own rats. think it cost us about $200 to set up and buy the tanks and so on. we have 2 big tanks rigged with fans for the feeders to breed in, then smaller tanks for the moms with babies. BUT it saves us about $30 a month.. so was well worth it.. we also can sell to other snakes owners and some go as pets. so that makes a bit more money back into the rats.
with the rats when we used to buy from the store.. we got them once a week and what we needed. now we dont buy anymore as its not needed. they cost about 2.20 each if you buy 3 or more at a time.. so we did.
