A little out of season...but considering it's damn near 100 degrees it's a nice thought. lol
As the petals begin to fall away at the earth’s feet,
While the trees sing a song of temporary defeat,
Vivid colors submit to neutrals of white and grey,
And the temperature reflects this deadened day,
The has fallen to this unfortunate change,
Days are shortened and light spans a shorter range,
Fairweather creatures take to find better fare,
While the braver select to sleep if they dare,
Humans only know what to do as the world continues,
Taking the scenery to tell their love that they cherish “only you”,
For some reason these animals seem to take well to this time,
Almost as if at any other time such kindness would be a crime,
I cannot explain such a change in emotion,
What strange results have come from this odd potion,
That brings such joy in the hearts of this race,
When brighter skies seem to darken our face,
Call me a skeptic; call me what you will,
I find it strange how we emphasize joy to fill,
The void left by these cold and darkened skies,
And other seasons leave no care whether such felicity dies…
