Yep! I'm trying a Nuzlocke run of Pokémon Heart Gold.
What the everloving heck?! Eberron-themed?
Yep. This started from a chat I had with some friends about Nuzlocke challenges, and musing that I would never be able to do one because I'd get too attached to my Pokémon and would hate the idea of sending other trainers' Pokémon to their deaths. (Not to mention the continuity errors that might result! XD ) After all, why should the rules only apply to you and not other trainers?
I mentioned that another hurdle would be creating a trainer character for myself, and they mused about using D&D characters as trainers. The most readily-used PC of mine was Kan, the changeling druid. And then it was mused who her rival would be, and the idea of the Pokémon world being a dream-sphere on the outer ring of Dal Quor, and...
... well...
The plotbunnies multiplied.
You're such a nerd.
I know. :3
So what is a Nuzlocke Challenge?
A Nuzlocke challenge is a run of a Pokémon game with two rules.
1. You may only catch the first Pokémon you encounter in each area. If you miss it, there are no second chances.
2. If a Pokémon faints, it must be immediately released (or never used again). It is 'dead.'
There are other optional rules, but these two are the only constants. I'll be sticking to those two rules. Given that Kan knows necromancers and resurrection magic, though... There may be a limited revival rule in play later. We'll see!
I did trace the Pokémon logo. Poorly. :B
