Although not to be taken too seriously, this story did involve a lot of research. Kicking over trash cans may not have been part of viking activities, but some of the events in the following pages are based on historical fact, as are most of the clothes, weapons and armor. Rossweisse's gear is made up, but she's not from around here.

The helmet design was influenced by a mix of designs. The flared back is an idea I got from Roman helmets. The visor idea was based on a type of Saxon or Viking helmet, but since her nose is different from a human's, I extended the visor out, so it will protect her nose and eyes when its down, or keep the sun out of her eyes when it's up. As for the boots, they've been around for centuries. Valkyries would normally be on horseback (flying horses), and the soles of her boots have a special slot for the stirrups. Rossweisse didn't get to keep her horse when sent into exile though.
