One of the things the pirates of course would be waving around were guns! African and Middle Eastern firearms followed some different design conventions from European firearms, and often once a style was settled on it might not change for hundreds of years. These were a couple of quick studies I did for reference.

While it is true that many seaborne muskets were shorter than their land-based counterparts and blunderbusses were very common; some of the longest muskets were developed for shipboard use. The Buccanneer muskets of the late 17th to early 18th century had barrels up 50"long. Also the pirates of the Med do not appear to have used many firearms designed with specific maritime use in mind. They just picked up what was available.
Love the details and style of the firearm definitely a favorite along with that color penciled one of Jessica Knight on your Website. I must say she is a dream coon femfur now...
I feel asamed to daydreaming lunatic-like admit I'd love to meet a fur just like her *^^* *sighs*
I am myself creating a story where an asteroid collided with and alternate world's earth in the middle of WWII annihilating humanity and triggering an ice-age where , withhe radiations from the asteroids made some of the fauna to evolves into furs and create cultures and countries from the remains of a WWII stuck humanity: it's tech, weapons, science , culture some language etc.. It's a very epic story i feel it could be very interesting as it can connect to reality. (aka : it's has a realism feeling to it.) Now i don't wish to bother you further But I'm looking for some altered design for architecture, weapons and all mechanic stuffs and that firearm/rifle is just that if we imagine it more brass or coppery than silver or steel.
I might post my Whole Story thing If you're ever curious. ( I can be hopeful? *grins*) Anyway Find your artwork VERY inspiring :) Thank a lot Baron. *bows and shakes his paw*
