My Great great great great grandfather
Now... not for you to think I am drawing lines between myself and Sam Clemens (he is one of my favorite authors) but after reading his autobiography and finding out his brother actually lived in my little town in Pennsylvania (he had to have visited), I also just received an email from a cousin I haven't seen in some 40 years inclusive of some pictures of a family history nature... and there he was; my Great X 4 Grandfather, the Steamboat Pilot. (You might remember Sam was also a steamboat pilot.)
This is his picture. He lived from 1828-1889.

OMG!!!! Vixyy! Look at the beard, the eyes, the ears and the mouth. Then look at a picture of Faun Tumnus, the Satyr, from the Chronicles of Narnia. This is outstanding!

This probably came to you as a pleasant surprise, eh?
My family has had a lot of issues tracing our ancestry, since most of them were illegal immigrants from Europe. Even my stepfather's family has had a hard time retracing, since they had fled from Italy during the Second World War, and had changed their names. But at least my step-father's family can recall the last 100 years of their history. The "Tacony" family was in with the mob. 0~0
My mother's side, the Lewis family, has ties with Quanah Parker, the last Chief of the Comanche tribe. He's my grandfather by relation. I can't be bothered to remember how many "greats" there are before that title, though. Other than that, we don't really know. My blood-father is German royalty, but we have no idea about the Lewis family, my mom's side. Just that Quanah's mother was a Scots-Irish woman named Cynthia Ann Parker. That is where the story grows cold, as Cynthia had been captured when she was 9, and had lived with the Comanche tribe her whole life. she forgot everything, and no records were kept of the family she had once. Even worse, she was "rescued" by Texas Rangers at 34, and was "reconditioned" to fit into the life of the working woman, and to remove the savage in her. She stopped eating, heartbroken, and died alone and away from her husband and children. So it is doubtful that I will ever know anything about my family history beyond that sad tale. Even Quanah's story is a sad one. 3:

He's the right age. He might have met Sam Clemens, as Clemens was a riverboat pilot right up through the start of the Civil War. I'm sure there were a lot of pilots, but they did travel and share information on river conditions.
The pilots were all licensed. There might be a paper-trail of information.

Fascinating! Interesting what you find like this. One of my mother's ancestors came from a tiny principality in Germany called Schaumburg, not really a principality, just a little administrative district like they had, and still have. Funny thing is, the other Schaumburg named after it is quite close to me.
Wow that is so cool. Actually I had to items in my submissions area side by side. this photo of your g g g granddad and this one of http://www.furaffinity.net/view/8304134/ of demonwerewolf. For a split second I thought is was the same person. *hugs*
Computer issues have been resolved but I'm now committed to paying $20 a week to pay off my new computer for three years. That included servicing and 24hr 7 days a week phone support if anything goes belly up though. and I can upgrade in 18 months if I wish. I'm still setting it all up...going to take me most of the weekend and perhaps a few rubber bricks thrown about the plae in frustration but I'm equal to the task. Hope all is well *hugs*
