So was Doopy stopping them to eat them from the beginning? Or was he honestly just stopping them to ask if they had any food to spare, and then the resulting fight just ended up with him trying to eat them? Just wanna try and understand.

He was just out there and they happened to appear so he asked for food but when Bill started to fight him Doopy swallowed him out of anger and then craved some more beef.

I know it doesn't make sense but I wanted any excuse to have Doopy fight and swallow them one at a time.

I think my confusion stemmed from the fact that, on the first page, he has an almost evil look on his face when he gets in the way to stop them.

And to think. All Bill had to do was just direct Doopy to the town and tell him that he could find some food there. Then, none of this would've happened.

Oh, of course. What happened was a lot more fun. Just saying what would've been more practical.

. . . Then again, I JUST noticed that they ran into him FIVE HOURS out of town. So he probably would've had a long walk to find some food, anyway.
