Been a while since I submitted something, hasn't it? Anyhow, this is a new character of mine, Lyra (Leer-uh). Like my character KT, she has no real backstory. Just kind of a 'fit into any situation' kind of character. Although she is certainly much less badass than any other character I've made.
Some description about her. Lyra has feathers for hair, which she typically styles into some form of mohawk. She has four (4) earrings (two on each ear).
Her likes include (but are not limited too) massages (particularly of her neck and feet), the sensation of the bottoms of her feet being drawn on with a marker (consequently, she always carries one on her person), fast cars, exotic lands, and swimming/relaxing in water.
Lyra has a pretty playful personality, and is generally open to try new things. While she's a fairly open person, there's a few things she likes to indulge in that she would only do with/reveal to someone she really trusts.
Okay, I started this picture earlier this week. Went way out of my comfort zone with both pose and perspective. Having never really done this before, I think it turned out halfway decent. Honestly, when I started this, I thought the pose and her foot were going to give me the most trouble. No. This was not the case. At. All. In fact, they were probably the easiest things about this picture. I probably spent a good two and a half hours just on the ears alone, trying to figure out what looked good and 'fit'. In the end, I thought the current ones looked good, so I stuck with them. Had some trouble with the hands, but, ugh.... hands....
Her color scheme was also interesting for me, as I usually deal in blacks/grays and earthy tones (for the most part) I wanted to give her a 'brighter' color scheme, without her being too bombastic. Originally supposed to be more of an orange, adding the shades and highlights turned her closer to yellow (which is kind of good, because when it was just the flats, she kind of looked like a reptilian Umpa-Lumpa). I also think the blue markings do a good job of breaking up the color. On a side note, it is a complete coincidence that they are similar to KT's markings.
Clothing: Going into this, she was originally going to be wearing a plain tank top and some short jeans.... but I got drunk last night, the jeans were giving me trouble, so I said "fuck it, she's wearing lingerie". And then today I wasn't sure what color to make it, so again I said "fuck it, it'll be the same color as her eye".
As a character, I've had her kicking around in my head for the better part of a year now, and have wanted to draw her, but haven't until now. I'm glad I finally did. Despite some minor issues I had, this was probably the most fun drawing I've had in a long time.
I suppose that's it. Expect to see more of her in the near future... Hopefully I will be able to set aside more time to draw.

I actually had about 3 other ears that ALL LOOKED SIMILAR to this style. But until I changed just a little bit near the top/base of the ear, they all looked... wonky. Such is the artistic process.
I also I was also originally gonna do the reverse of this color scheme (blue primary, yellowish orange stripes), but the more I thought about it, the more I thought she would end up looking like Hype. Not that that's a bad thing........ but it's totes a bad thing TROLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Personally, I think the lamp turned out pretty good. The light on the right side is a bit small, but whatever. They also turned out a bit thick, but since no one needs to know that, I think we can say it was done on purpose. I think it's also a tad crooked, but if you saw the lamp in my room, you would know what crooked really was haha
