Lower inhibitions = more self-confidence in where you place the lines... or the character becomes easier to visualize, and then you can use 'life-drawing' skills on the visualization.
Your consolation is when you realize that those abilities continue to be there, but they may be masked until you can remove the masks. Removing masks is possible to learn to be able to do while sober, too.
You also might not want to choose to be 'not sober' to the point where you start to lose physical fine-tuning.

It's actually a good representation of how I sketch VERY fast. While sober I have a heavy handed approach. While not, my natural approach becomes more fine tuned and I can focus better on the task at hand rather than constantly think four steps ahead which makes my art look like shit. So while not sober, I like it when it looks less shit. ^^ I should try to work on that while not "impaired", but that's this whole process of artin constantly.
True, the one that's drawn under the influence looks better but you also have to consider that you're drawing two different characters. Who is to say that T isn't using a pirate cloaking device, she probably knows there are ninjas afoot. All this makes her harder to draw, not to mention that she has a lovely ruffledy Austin Powers shirt which has troublesome lines to say the least. By contrast Ruth's clothes are simpler and he is almost facing you whereas T's head is cocked to one side. All things aside I see what you mean, and I love that feather and that get-up. I might even go so far as to say it suits her... to a T! Bwahahaha
