This month's featured author is the talented and prolific
jagkitty. We were fortunate enough to learn a bit more about how he relates to fiction and vore.
How long have you been writing?
I've been writing since middle school. Fiction stories were always some of my favorite things to read throughout school as it could deal with just about any setting or any kind of character. It was through reading that I decided to work towards writing things myself, so all through middle and high school and even college I wrote various short stories for assignments. It was through my love of writing that eventually plunged me into the path of writing certain smutty things with my free time.
What sorts of things do you like to read? Who are some of your favorite authors?
I like to read fiction books or older classics that one tends to have to read in order to pass high school classes. Since high school my love of reading has really dwindled, so I don't tend to read that many these days. If I do pick up a book it usually involves zombies or other apocalyptic settings/creatures. Some of my favorite authors would probably be John Marsden, Stephen Cole, Salinger, Bradbury and various others who have books I’ve actually taken the time to sit down and enjoy.
Where did you get the idea for Jag? How did you decide on being a jaguar?
The idea for Jag came about through watching Beast Wars. In 1996 I had no idea what ‘furry’ was, but through my love of writing and being a very imaginative kid I worked to incorporate a character into the series. Jag started out taking various forms and being part robot like the other characters in the show, but after the series ended I figured out there was a term called ‘furry.’ Through research I began to understand what it meant and took the character I’d made out of the show and through a series of changes turned him into my favorite animal, that being the black jaguar.
I've seen you as both predator and prey. Are you equally comfortable in both roles? Do you prefer one over the other at all?
I’m fine with both roles and enjoy them about the same. Before I first started writing my stories Jag was a primarily predatory feline, but has since become a very prey leaning character. I think I prefer being prey more than being a predator a lot of the time, but that doesn’t mean I won’t do the other if the mood strikes me.
Do you ever find it difficult to come up with ideas for stories? What inspires you?
I’ve always got a million ideas for stories, so it’s never that difficult for me to get inspired. It also helps that movies, music and friends help me to work towards new and better ideas that not only intrigue me, but when it eventually gets written, will intrigue others! The biggest thing for me is that for every idea that I do have, another one will pop up from that one in some way. I no longer have the time to sit down and write out all my ideas, which is a shame in my own opinion.
What other kinds of interests do you have, outside of writing?
My interests outside of writing would mainly be video games and movies. I love to sit down and waste an entire day playing a new game or playing something online with friends. The same goes for movies as those were really my first love. I can turn on Netflix and just go to town watching things I’ve already seen or getting into something new. I enjoy being taken out of my world and watching other characters have to deal with their own ordeals, that sometimes makes me think better thoughts about aspects of my own life when I happen to be down in the dumps.
If you weren't a jaguar, what else do you think you would have been?
Well I didn’t start out as a jaguar, so I know what I would have been. Firstly there was a skunk, then a rabbit, then a Pegasus, then a hybrid wolf-coon, then coyote/shape shifter and finally jaguar. Through the evolution of my character I’ve developed several others that fit into my own writing universe and who I share unique traits with. Every species that Jag used to be, there’s already another character in place to be that species, which is something I love about myself though not a lot of people know about it.
