It was a quiet night in the small town of Ponyville, and everypony was fast asleep. This was especially so at Sugarcube Corner. Mr. and Mrs. Cake were sawing logs and dreaming dreams that only the Night Mare herself could watch. Suddenly, a small clatter of metal pots and pans were heard.
"Huh?!" Mrs. Cake said with a startle. She turned to her husband and shook him awake. "Carrot, dear, wake up! I think I heard something!"
"It was probably just some mice, Cupcake, dear..." Mr. Cake said with a yawn. Another clatter told him otherwise, and he got up immediately.
"It sounded like it was in the kitchen..." Mrs. Cake whispered as she and Mr. Cake got out of bed and went to investigate, being careful not to wake Pound or Pumpkin from their slumber.
As the two tip-hoofed down the stairs, avoiding making the wood creek, Mr. Cake picked up a baseball bat with his teeth as Mrs. Cake grabbed a folded umbrella with hers. They slowly approached the kitchen doors and saw a silhouette within, Luna's Moon barely illuminating it. It was moving around and looking for something.
"Oh my Celestia, a burglar!" Mrs. Cake said in a hushed tone.
"But what is he looking for in the kitchen?" Mr. Cake whispered as he tightened his grip on the bat.
"Maybe it's a spy from Turnover Twist or Biscuit Boulevard, trying to steal our recipes..." Mrs. Cake suggested.
"Well, whoever they are, they're gonna hafta go through us..." Mr. Cake said confidently. "Let's get the drop on him. You turn on the light to blind him and I'll charge in. On my signal..." Mrs. Cake saluted as she reached for the light switch.
The silhouette rummaged through the cabinets until it found a jar with the word "Cookies" on it. After setting the jar on the counter, it dipped its muzzle in it and, after a few seconds, retrieved a few of the chocolate-chipped morsels and was ready to leave.
"Now!" Mr. Cake shouted as Mrs. Cake flipped the switch and startled the pony inside. The two Cakes charged into the kitchen, ready to give the would-be crook a pounding of a lifetime, but just before the two could even make one swing with their bat and umbrella, they realized that the silhouette was none other than a certain pink party pony, wearing a pink nightshirt and a rather thick diaper.
"Pinkie?" Mrs. Cake asked as she and Mr. Cake dropped their weapons from their jaws.
Pinkie Pie stood there leaning on the counter with the cookies in her mouth, registering the fact that she had just peed a little in surprise, and was more than thankful to have been wearing the padded undergarment she so happened to have been sporting. "Um...evening, Mr. and Mrs. Cake...heh heh..." Pinkie chuckled nervously as she spoke through the cookies still in her mouth.
