Made for my mother on Mother's day. Also sculpted to go with my Father's present, a house sparrow. My mother has always, always loved finches, and I'm slowly getting through all her favourite song birds that pop up in our garden. She loved him, and that made me really happy. It was a challenge to give his paint some dimension when they're such an intense yellow! It doesn't lend itself much to my usual techniques to reinforce a sense of form.
First time trying a new technique for tail feathers on this guy too, which turned out pretty well! I usually sculpt the general shape, but not the individual feathers of the tail on an animal this small, as they'd be so thin, but I got it on this one. No idea if I can repeat that, but hey, I'm just happy it worked!
If you are interested in commissioning me or puchasing one of my pieces, please feel free to note me.

Yes actually! Here's one I made for my father for Christmas a few years ago. They're some of my personal favourite birds, very saucy!
